7–10 April 2013, UK, London – BNA2013: Festival of Neuroscience
The British Neuroscience Association’s biennial meeting in 2013 will be a unique event. Eighteen learned societies with a neuroscience interest – both clinical and non-clinical – have contributed one or more symposia to the programme, creating a meeting with 56 scientific sessions and 8 plenary lectures involving more than 240 speakers, over 80 from outside the U.K. At this scientific meeting, basic and clinical scientists from many disciplines will convene 56 symposia and workshops covering all aspects of neuroscience research in its broadest sense and delivered by those leading the fields. Well over two hundred individual lectures will highlight cutting-edge research across all of the core themes in neuroscience, ranging from cellular and molecular neuroscience through to the neuroscience of behaviour and cognition. Eight of the World’s leading neuroscientists will give plenary lectures, and we expect there to be more abstract submissions and poster presentations than at any previous BNA scientific meetings. There will also be opportunities to debate issues around grant funding, the nature of investments to neuroscience by the pharmaceutical industry and issues around research ethics.
Uniquely, a major public engagement programme will also be hosted at the Festival. Members of the general public will be able to attend public lectures by leading neuroscientists and celebrity speakers, debates, film screenings, theatrical events, art installations and visit and participate in demonstrations of the importance of neuroscience in modern society. Charities, carers and patients will be encouraged to network with scientists so that everyone understands the need and fundamental importance, as well as the challenges, of neuroscience research.
